Sit Back to Subdue the Tiger
The object of this exercise is to store energy in the legs and to loosen the waist and align the hips.

Start with feet one-shoulder width apart toes facing the front.  Shift the weight to the left leg making sure that the centre of the foot, knee, hip and shoulder are aligned as if a spike were driven through the shoulder to the foot.

Rotate on this imaginary spike until the right foot faces 90 degrees to its original position.

Make sure the knee is still over the toe.

Commence sitting backward and forward making sure that the knee of the right foot does not go past the toes. Repeat 24 times.

Sit back, keep the heel of the right foot on the ground, raise the toes.  Drop the toes to a position where the heel rests, raising the heel by elevating the knee.  Drop the heel to its original position and repeat 24 times.

Change sides and repeat.

"Any fault in advancing or retreating lies in the legs or the waist."
